Secure sharing links for meter readings: Share publicly, stay in control

Share meter timelines via messenger or email with secure public links, optional expiry, revocation, and strict privacy boundaries.

Why we built this feature

Teams often need to share meter readings quickly with external stakeholders such as owners, service partners, consultants, or billing providers. In many workflows, this led to screenshots, forwarding from internal tools, and avoidable back-and-forth.

With secure public sharing links, admins can provide exactly the relevant meter timeline without giving recipients access to the internal workspace.

How secure sharing works

Admins create a link directly from the meter view and send it through any chat client or email. Recipients open the link and see only the shared meter information and reading history.

No login is required for recipients. Under the hood, link tokens are handled securely and stored as hashes rather than plaintext values.

Expiry dates and revocation controls

Each link supports an optional valid-until date. By default, links are time-limited, but admins can also create links without an expiry when needed.

Admins can review all active links per meter and revoke access at any time. Access statistics are tracked so teams can see whether a link has been used.

Privacy by design in public view

The public page intentionally exposes only required information. Recipients do not see internal user identities, roles, or who submitted a reading.

This enables efficient external collaboration while protecting internal processes and personal data.
